Meet: Nicole Loughlin
I’m a mom of three, a wife, an estate planning and probate attorney, and I own my law firm, Loughlin Law, P.A. I love spending time with my family, Disney trips, my Peloton, “reading “audiobooks, and squeezing in moments of self-care whenever I can!
How many kids do you have? What are their ages?
I have three kids ages 9, 6, and 1.
A brief description of what a day in your life looks like.
I start my day with gratitude and a 20-30 minute workout; After that, it is time to prepare the baby and the older kids for school and daycare. My husband and I do elementary school drop-off together, then the baby drop-off, and time permitting, we grab a quick breakfast on the way back to the office. I meet with my clients from my home office over zoom and spend a good portion of my day working with families and educating prospective clients on how to protect their families through estate planning. The baby and the kids get home early in the evening, and I greet them and finish whatever I’m working on. The nights are hectic, but I embrace (enjoy?!) being a Mompreneur even in the chaos!.
How do you manage mom life while being an entrepreneur? Share some of your tips and tricks with us.
Being a mom is the greatest joy of my life, and I love being my boss. Systems for both home and work! I keep an organized house and schedule and build in breaks to catch my breath. Owning a business allows me the freedom to control my schedule. I still work long hours and work more for my firm than I ever worked for anyone else’s. Still, at the same time, the flexibility allows me to serve as a room parent every year for my kids’ classes, volunteer at the school, attend *most* major school functions, and work from home, allowing my kids to barge in just about any time they need me. My husband is a great partner, and even though we don’t have family nearby, we have a great babysitter.
What’s been your greatest joy in motherhood?
My kids are great people, and watching them develop their personalities is awesome and very rewarding. They are all unique and different in their own way, even from my husband and I. We love learning about them and just spending that time together makes me so happy!
What have you found most challenging in your motherhood journey?
I’ve had more than one person tell me they are impressed with how I “do it all,” While I love the compliment, I don’t think having it all means I’m *good* at it all. It is always hard to be present, so I have to be deliberate about it.
If we peeked in your purse right now, what would we find?
Wallet, card holder, keys, lipstick, phone charger, and a bunch of rubber snakes, ha!
Being a mom is no easy task. How do you relax?
We sleep in, eat in, and hang out at the house. Sometimes I pick a weekend day to be a “pajama day.” Those are some of my favorite days.
