The City of Hallandale Beach and Community Civic Association, Inc. will commemorate Juneteenth, Friday, June 16, at Foster Park@ doors will open at 5:30 PM for a reception with refreshments, the event starting at 6:00 PM.
Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day, Jubilee Day, and Cel-Liberation Day, is an American holiday celebrated on June 19. On June 19, 1865, the Emancipation Proclamation— which had been issued on January 1, 1863, was read to enslaved African Americans in Texas by Gordon Grange.
The Community Civic Association, Inc.’s mission is to improve the quality of life for residents of Hallandale Beach and other communities. We serve as a beacon of leadership by utilizing our diverse talents to foster an environment where our young minds in the community can flourish.

The inside the venue keynote speaker is Don Cleveland, former professor from Broward College, will educate us and provide insight on the history of Juneteenth. We are showcasing small businesses, featuring an up-and-coming artist Ariel Collins, and finishing the night with a Poet Corner outside bring your lawn chairs, and listen to outside music with DJ Mannie. This is the opportunity for local Poets to highlight their spoken word talents. A community affair, fun, food, and entertainment. We are “Celebrating our Freedom” in the City of Hallandale Beach. Event parking will be located OB Johnson Park, 1000 NW 8th Avenue starting at 5:15 PM, transportation will be provided to and from the event and refreshments will be served.
