Detective Adam Granit of the Davie Police Department will be conducting a child internet safety seminar on November 29, 2023 from 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm at the Pine Island Multipurpose Center located at 3801 S. Pine Island Road. The course will cover the following topics:
Internet safety and security issues.
Inappropriate content on the internet and how parents should respond.
Solicitations to children & grooming.
How to report incidents.
A deeper look at specific apps and their features.
Detective Adam Granit serves with the Davie Police Department and has been employed by the department since 2000. Detective Granit is currently assigned to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force, which targets individuals involved in the online sexual exploitation of children. As part of his duties, he investigates crimes involving the sexual exploitation of minors including minor sex trafficking, child pornography, and enticement violations. Detective Granit is also assigned to the South Florida ICAC (Internet Crimes Against Children) Task Force, which is part of a National Task Force. South Florida ICAC investigates computer crimes related to child pornography and crimes related to the abuse and exploitation of children, including online (Internet) undercover investigations. During his career as a Detective, he has legally seized, searched, and analyzed digital evidence to aid in the discovery of suspects and/or establish probable cause for arrest. This includes, but is not limited to, extracting and analyzing data from mobile devices, and vehicle systems, and collecting and analyzing data records from social media and cellular service providers.
