2024/2025 Broward County Public School Calendar
“Broward County Public Schools Announces 2024/25 School Calendar
Mark Your Calendar: The First Day of School is Monday, August 12, 2024 ”
Important Dates:
-First day of school: Monday, August 12th, 2024
-Thanksgiving break: Monday, November 25th, 2024 – Friday, November 29th, 2024
-Winter break: Monday, December 23rd, 2024 – Friday, January 3rd, 2025
-Spring break: Monday, March 24th, 2025 – Friday, March 28th, 2025
-Last day of school: Tuesday, June 3rd, 2025
”Florida’s Voluntary Prekindergarten Education Program (VPK) is a free program to prepare 4-year-olds for success in kindergarten and beyond. It helps prepare your child to be strong readers and successful students by focusing on literacy skills-building, accountability, learning materials, manageable class sizes, and qualified instructors’ expectations.”
-Parents/guardians must be Florida residents.
-Children must turn 4 years old on or before September 1st of the current school year. -The VPK program is FREE to Florida families and has no income requirements or restrictions.
How to register for Broward County Public School
“It is easy to register your child in a Broward County Public School. Parents who want to enroll their children, please contact the school directly. You can determine your boundaries school by clicking on the school locator.”
-Parents can access the Student Registration Form in English, Spanish, Haitian Creole, and Portuguese.
-When filling out registration paper works, parents should have the following:
- Proof of residence
- Proof of child’s age
- Proof of child’s medical exams and immunizations
- Previous school records.
“Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) is excited to introduce Focus, a new Student Information System (SIS) for the 2024/25 school year. This system provides easy access to school information, student schedules, attendance, and grades.”
-Automatic Enrollment:All students, teachers, and staff will have accounts automatically created. (Parents/guardians will need to create a Parent Portal Account)
-Replacement of Old Systems: Focus will replace several older systems that will no longer be used.
-User-Friendly Portals: The system includes unique portals for students and parents/guardians, providing easy access to important school information.
-Commitment to Technology: This transition highlights the District’s dedication to using technology for educational improvement and strengthening school-community connections.
Online textbook, Single sign-on Learning resources available 24/7
“Each student in BCPS has a suite of grade level appropriate academic tools available to them 24/7/365. Access to adopted textbooks, Canvas learning management system and dozens of other resources are available through this Clever portal. Students can access their suite of resources via the Single-Sign-On Clever LaunchPad.”
-Students will continue to go to sso.browardschools.com where they will be taken directly to the new Clever login page below.
–From this page, users will click on “Log in With Active Directory” where they will be taken to our Active Directory login page.
Access Student Grades and Report Card
“Step 1: Go to single sign-on (SSO) page at sso.browardschools.com and click “Log in with Active Directory.
Step 2: Enter student ID and password to log in to the Clever Launchpad.
Step 3: Select Virtual Counselor for report cards OR Pinnacle for current course grades.”
-Parents/Guardians please assist your student to select secure passwords that include letters, numbers and symbols. Do not use date of birth or other personal information.
-New students are provided login information by their school. Returning students can use their existing login information; a new password is strongly recommended every three to six months.
Public School Food/Nutrition – Apply Free/Reduced Meals
“For the 2024-2025 School Year, Broward County Public Schools Food and Nutrition Services Department is pleased to continue Community Eligibility Provision (CEP), which allows students to receive breakfast and lunch at no cost at 180 eligible Broward County Public Schools.”
-The application portal for the 2024/2025 school year will be available from July 15, 2024 – June 1, 2025.
-Breakfast and lunch menus can be viewed by school location online via MealViewer.
–To request dietary modification, including consistency and texture, special dietary needs or concerns, visit the Special Diets and Allergies page for guidance.
“The Microsoft Student Advantage Program provides full versions of Microsoft products. The program is available for all students in Broward County Public Schools for use on their personal and mobile devices (Android and iOS). Students have access to the tools they need to be successful in their education and are prepared for the technology skills required in the workforce.”
–The Microsoft Office license is tied to Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) Active Directory accounts for students.

Broward College – Free Lyft Rides
“Broward College has partnered with Lyft to assist students that are experiencing transportation challenges. Students who are currently enrolled may be eligible for a Lyft credit worth up to $100.00. Lyft credits will be disbursed on a first-come-first-served basis. This program is intended to be supplemental. It should not be used as a long-term primary mode of transportation.”
–Students are responsible for taxes, tips, late/cancellation fees and surcharges.
–Students will be responsible for a $5.00 fee if they cancel a ride 2 minutes after the driver has been dispatched or if they do not show up after 5 minutes from the time the driver has arrived per the Lyft policy.
-Students will be responsible for the cost of the ride if they request a ride that it is not to or from an approved location,
Free Live Tutoring With Library Card
“Broward etutor: Free, live tutoring/skill-building in math, science, social studies, English, foreign language and writing for students K-12/college and adult learners. Daily from 2 to 11 p.m. Help/test prep aligned with Florida standardized tests. Assistance is also available in Spanish.”
“Through Broward UP, Broward College is offering workforce training and student support services online and directly in neighborhoods throughout Broward County.”
-“Eligibility: Students must be 18 years of age or older for most Broward UP courses. For Health Care courses, applicants must also have completed a high school diploma or GED. If you have not completed a high school diploma or GED, we can assist you through our Adult Education program.”
-“Funding: Through grant funding, Broward UP offers free courses and workshops to qualifying students who reside in the following zip codes: 33309, 33311, 33313, 33314, 33319, 33023, 33020, 33069, 33064, 33441, and 33065.”
