Guide to Summer Fun & Discounts in Broward

School’s out and summer is here! What now?! Fortunately, we live in South Florida and there’s plenty to do for everyone. Here’s a list of events, activities, and discounts in Broward County to assure an AWESOME FUN-FILLED SUMMER!!!

Summer Savings Pass:

A great offer that includes the ability to visit 4 attractions for one price from May 11th to September 30th, 2019, as many times as you want! The pass is priced at $60+ tax for adults and $50+ tax for children ages 3-12. If you already have an annual pass to one of the four locations, the price for the savings pass is discounted to $35+ tax for adults and $25+ tax for children. The four attractions are the Fort Lauderdale Museum of Discovery and Science, Zoo Miami, Miami Seaquarium and Lion Country Safari. Without the pass, visiting all four attractions would cost you $126.94+ tax for adults and $100.94+ tax for children for a single entry. Be sure to take advantage of this summer deal!

Broward County Libraries:

Every summer, Broward County libraries offer a variety of educational activities and events. They have the reading program, this year’s theme being “A Universe of Stories”, which encourages and rewards everyone for reading! You can register online here and visit your local library to pick up your paper game board and countdown calendar.

This year, the Florida Panthers are also launching their 2nd Annual Reading Tour, where they will visit 10 libraries in Broward County and make a special guest appearance as well as provide games. You can click here for more information.

While at the library, don’t forget to ask for a calendar of events, as each library has their own schedule of activities that you don’t want to miss out on. Ranging from story times to S.T.E.A.M. activities and more!

Movies:

To join in the summer fun, various movie theatres have provided some great summer deals for kids to enjoy a good movie at a low price.

Regal Entertainment Group has their “Summer Movie Express” promotion, featuring G and PG-rated movies at 10 a.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays for only $1. Click here to see the showings for your local theatre and what movies are playing.

AMC movie theatres are offering a Summer Movie Camp for kids for just $4+ tax every Wednesday all summer long! The fee includes a kid-friendly movie along with a KidsPack. The KidsPack comes with popcorn, a fountain drink and a pack of Frooti Tootis. Click here to find more information for your local theatre.

On select nights, the Pompano Citi Centre will be offering free outdoor movie showings next to the Foot Locker. Seating is limited, so be sure to come early or bring your own chair/ blankets to make yourself comfortable. The first 100 children will receive free prizes, there will be free popcorn, and vendors will also be there to sell other offerings. Click here for address, dates, and times of showings.

The city of Pembroke Pines is hosting a free Children’s Film Festival at the River of Grass Arts Park Susan B. Katz Theater. They will be showing children movies every Saturday starting at 10 a.m. First Saturday being June 15th. No food or drinks are allowed in the theater and dates are subject to change. Water Parks:

Living in South Florida, it gets HOT! What a better place to spend the summer than at the water parks.

Paradise Cove Water Park (Pembroke Pines) is inside C.B. Smith Park and does have a general entrance of $1.50/person plus the water park fee which is $12.30/person for all day or $8 after 3pm. They have swim areas designated for different age groups, as well as offer concessions, umbrella rentals, camp, and swimming lessons. They’re open daily from 10 am to 5:20 pm. Tropical Splash (Lauderhill) is inside Central Broward Park and has a general gate entrance of $1.50 /person plus the water park fee of $5.60/person per session. The day is split into two session, session 1 running from 10 am to 1:35 pm and session 2 running from 1:45pm to 5:20pm. They have swim areas designated for different age groups, as well as offer concessions, umbrella rentals, paddleboat rentals, camp, and swimming lessons. They’re open daily from 10 am to 5:20 pm. Splash Adventure (Deerfield Beach) is inside Quiet Waters Park and has a gate entrance of $1.50/person plus the water park fee of $6/person for all day or $4.40 after 3pm. Castaway Island Water Park (Hollywood) is inside T.Y. Park and has a gate entrance of $1.50/person plus the water park fee of $8.87/person for all day or $5.37 after 3pm. They have two designated play areas, one for small children and the other for older children. They also offer concessions, umbrella rentals, camp, swim lessons, boat rentals, kayak rentals, canoe rentals, paddle boat rentals, and johnboat rentals. They’re open daily from 10 am to 5:20 pm. Be sure to also check out the seasonal pass which offers bronze, silver, and gold level. Depending on the level you choose, you have the option to visit more than one park. The pass runs from date of purchase to end of September. Click here for prices and level information.

Train Rides:

Driving around we always stop at some point to let a train or two go by. If your little one is anything like mine, it’s usually a highlight of the car ride. Here are some special summer offers to take a ride on the “choo choo” train.
