Life is a constant ebb and flow, filled with highs and lows, and through it all, we as women often find ourselves carrying the weight of it all. That’s why I created Spirit Mama—a series dedicated to helping women learn how to manage and recalibrate their energy. As we grow, we evolve, and through this process, we have the opportunity to clear out what no longer serves us and create space for the things that bring us joy.
“Ebb and flow” refers to the natural rise and fall of something, like the tides of the ocean. It describes how things increase and decrease, move forward and pull back, or go through cycles of highs and lows. One of the biggest reasons I wanted to share this journey is because it has transformed my life. By releasing stagnant energy, I have been able to invite in new, positive experiences that truly align with my soul’s purpose. Sometimes, all it takes is a moment to pause and breathe in the beauty around us—literally stopping to smell the roses.
What better way to embrace this transformation than by doing it together?
Many of you who know me personally understand my deep commitment to helping others. But this time, I needed to step back and help myself first—to truly tune in to my soul’s calling and show up in ways I never have before. Spirit Mama is my endeavor to create a welcoming space where moms feel comfortable exploring new ideas and concepts. These aren’t new practices; they are ancient traditions passed down through generations, guiding us toward balance and self-awareness.
Through my work with the Broward Mom Collective, inclusivity and representation have always been top priorities. From day one, our mission has been to cultivate a space where every mom feels seen, heard, and valued. Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) are at the heart of everything we do, and I am proud to have experienced the joyful feeling, and engaging in initiatives that have actively shaped a more inclusive community.
My journey has also led me to explore deeper topics, such as breaking generational cycles and healing ancestral traumas. Through my involvement with organizations like the Muslim Women Organization, I have gained valuable insight into supporting women facing domestic violence and emotional challenges. These experiences have reinforced my passion for creating safe spaces where women can heal, grow, and thrive.
Part of my position with MWO required attending specialized trainings to better serve the community, and I found myself immersed in a world of learning, growing, and advocating. One of the most fulfilling roles I am instructor along side the leadership team, for the Boss Women Entrepreneurship Program, where I guided women through mentorship and business development, ultimately helping them qualify for grants to launch or expand their businesses. Additionally, I taught Sunday School, deepening my connections with others while sharing knowledge and wisdom.
However, when you are deeply passionate about your work, it’s easy to get lost in service and neglect your own needs. The responsibilities, commitments, and emotional investment can quickly catch up with you, leading to something many of us have faced—burnout.
Burnout creeps up silently, and before you know it, you are mentally, physically, and emotionally drained. I’ve been there. I’ve felt the exhaustion from constantly pouring into others while leaving my own cup empty. If we are not mindful, overextending ourselves can take a serious toll on our mental health and well-being.
Through my journey, I have learned the importance of setting boundaries, prioritizing self-care, and recognizing when to ask for help. I want to share some of the battles I faced in those dark moments and how I navigated my way back to balance. Reaching out for support is not a sign of weakness—it is a sign of strength. Some of the most profound healing I have experienced came from the very community I was serving. Being open to learning and receiving help has been a transformative lesson for me, and my hope to inspire others to embrace the same mindset.
So guess what, mama? That’s a WIN! The more we evolve and grow, the more we create space for learning, healing, and thriving—together. As we step into this new chapter, I invite you to set your intentions and embrace the power within you. Spirit Mama series is about reclaiming your energy, honoring your journey, and celebrating how far you’ve come. Together, we will rise, learn, and support one another in ways that truly make a difference.
