Are you interested in being a Broward Mom Collective (BMC) contributor?

Do you have things you would like to say about parenting, being a grandparent, starting a family, or what you love about our community? Do you love writing and enjoy sharing your story with other moms? It is a volunteer position that comes with some fun perks to make it all worthwhile! We are looking for local women passionate about motherhood and want to share their experiences with other women in Broward County and beyond.

Note: You do not have to be a blogger to apply!

We aim to connect and include moms in all stages of the journey. We love hearing from moms of young children, moms of teens and older children, moms of adult children, married moms, single moms, moms who have fostered or adopted, moms of multiples, special needs moms, grandmas, expecting moms and women who long to become mothers but might be battling infertility. Our goal is to grow our diverse group of contributors with women who want to connect with other moms in Broward. 

Application’s are now OPEN, we strongly suggest you fill out your application ASAP as we only accept a limited number of applicants each quarter.

Interested in becoming a contributor? Here’s what you need to know!

What you GIVE . . .

  • Your passion for moms, kids, our community and the Broward area.
  • Reliability, integrity, team spirit, and your own unique, fun perspective.
  • An active presence on social media. (liking, sharing, commenting and engaging, etc.)
  • Your presence when possible at Broward Mom Collective events and contributor gatherings …which are always FUN!!!
  • You must attend our Quarterly Team Meeting via Zoom and provide feedback to our team. **As of 2022, Our Monthly Contributor Meetings are optional.
  • Availability for in-person contributor meetings held a few times a year, or Zoom meetings, as we navigate through this pandemic.
  • A One-year commitment
  • All posts/images must fit within the brand and mission of Broward Mom Collective. You must submit the following by the 1st of every month:
      1. One original blog post for your one-year commitment (12 posts) AND
      2. 5-10 Original pictures/images/videos (each month) that we can post on our platform to help promote holidays, national days, special days, crafts, activities, etc. (Ex. https://www.instagram.com/p/CX3m7XMLVqO/)

What you GET . . .

FAQ

No! We are looking for fresh, local voices that are passionate about their community and want to share their stories. We are looking for people who want to connect with others. We can help train you on writing, and we do require that you have strong communication skills and have access to Facebook/Instagram.

Not necessarily! We are hoping to grow by diversifying our team to include more voices on parenting that represent more unique family dynamics. We’d love to hear about you and possibly include you on our team!

We have an editorial calendar and suggest monthly topic ideas, but you are welcome to ask the team for ideas, or you can come up with them your own! 

Our posts focus on parenthood, friendships, partnerships, community, events and activities, milestones, local businesses, and everything Broward County.

  • Submit your submissions on time. We do not accept previously published content.
  • Be present, when possible, at BMC events and contributor socials/gatherings (which are designed to be a great time).
  • Have an active Facebook page (for team communication and social engagement).
  • Be active on social media and engage on BMC accounts.
  • Have a passion for family and the Broward community.
  • Submit pictures/activities as needed for our social media/content. (ex: we will ask our team for pictures of their kids eating ice cream or reading a book for National Days, Holidays, etc.)
  • A one year commitment.
  • Be comfortable with social media and tech, generally.
  • Have a reliable, respectful, positive, and fun personality.
  • Be engaged within our team page, team chats, and on our social media accounts. Commenting and engaging on our social media accounts. Engagement on your own articles as well as others. We are here to support each other and help our team grow. 

As of August 2022 there is no current fee. Our Application Fee starts on January 1st, 2023. Any applications submitted & received after December 31st, 2022 at 11:59pm will be subject to our new application fee. Refer to the application page for more information. 

That’s great that you’re interested in making a difference in your community. If you’d like to be an applicant, please include a previously unpublished blog post or written piece for us to review as your sample. Our articles should be aimed at connecting, empowering, informing, or encouraging moms in our community through your own unique experiences. If you are invited to join the team and choose to do so, we will use this first piece for a future blog post (so you are able to hit the ground running!). Applications are now OPEN!

Your sample should be:
-between 400-800 words (less can be more!)
-well-edited
-topical to parenthood/friendships/partnerships/community/Broward living
-profanity-free

Annie Makhanlall is The Co-owner & Founder of Spectacular Creations – South Florida, LLC., and Broward Mom Collective, LLC. She brings creativity and sparkle to everything that she does. Her designs include the most exquisite personalized gifts and her followers are always looking forward to using her savvy couponing skills! She manages her “Sparkle Empire” smoothly while staying super busy with her two sassy girls. She’s is the mom that walks down the hall with 2 bookbags on her shoulders; lunch bags in one hand and coffee in the other all the while managing to take pictures of her daughters… Yes, that is Annie! Amidst her busy schedule, she also continues to volunteer and give back to her community.
