I am thrilled to announce that I will be joining Broward Mom Collective as a MOMBassador for 2024! Thank you to Rafeea and Annie, the incredible owners of Broward Mom Collective, for this amazing opportunity!
My name is Marie-Josee Berard, and I am the proud owner of Baby Wellness Massage. With over 30 years of experience in the field, I still find so much joy in practicing massage every single day!
Since 1992, I have been certified in Prenatal Massage. However, it was my own challenging pregnancy journey with my daughter in 1995 that truly opened my eyes and inspired me to make a difference through massage for pregnant women. This experience took my expertise in medical massage and my compassion for expectant mothers to the next level. Considering my lifelong passion for babies, specializing in Pregnancy, Postpartum, and Baby Massage brings me pure joy!
Some may assume that I solely work with babies due to my business name, but the babies’ brain development starts before birth! The first 1,000 days of a child’s life are critical for their brain development, and it all begins on day one of conception. This is why prenatal massage holds so much importance, as it offers incredible benefits for both the mom-to-be and the baby!
For the mom-to-be, prenatal massage can:
- Alleviate back and leg pain
- Reduce labor pain during childbirth
- Lessen postoperative pain
- Decrease anxiety and stress
- Improve mood and lift depression
- Ease insomnia
For the baby, prenatal massage can:
- Decrease cortisol levels
- Reduce excessive fetal activities
- Improve circulation of blood, oxygen, and nutrients
- Lower the incidence of premature birth and low birth weight babies
Beyond the physical benefits, pregnancy massage also provides an opportunity for you to relax and build a spiritual connection while bonding with your baby before birth.
My office is conveniently located in Coral Springs, FL. However, I also offer home massage services throughout Broward County and Boca Raton. Don’t worry if you’re too far away; I have some valuable tips to help you choose a prenatal massage therapist:
- Ensure the therapist is certified in prenatal massage.
- A comprehensive patient intake form should be provided to gather information about the patient’s medical history.
- Clean and hygienic facilities are a must.
- The therapist should have proper knowledge of which oils and essential oils are safe for prenatal massage.
- They should use proper positioning and approved massage techniques for pregnancy to prevent injuries, such as strain on the uterine ligaments.
