Q1 Is Your 2020 Vision Stacking up?

0

Welcome to the close of the first quarter of 2020. We all went into this year with high hopes, resolutions, and benchmarks to be the best yet. January felt like it was 365 days long, we blinked and February leaped away and bam we just about to spring forward. It happens before you know it! Now that the first quarter of the year is in the books, it’s the perfect time to look back and give yourself a test to see if you’re stacking up to the expectations you set out for yourself this year.

Did you know:

The end of each quarter is the best time to give ourselves a “performance review”?

Now, I’d like to say that I came up with these questions on my own, but I did not. Fort Lauderdale Moms blog is a collaborative blog and our owner Kellie Mackenroth felt this was the perfect time to share an important checklist that she picked up at 2019 City Mom Collective Sister Site Conference from inspirational speaker Jo Saxton. So here goes!

#1 – Who do you think you are?

“Don’t let imposter syndrome sneak into your “leadership/life”.

Find your rhythm and every quarter ask ourselves performance questions.

Pay attention to your thoughts.

#2 – What drives you?

“None of us have a problem with it being someone else’s problem.”

#3 – When do you rest and recreate?

MAKE the time, this does not happen naturally.

As moms, we are geared to never stop and if you never make time to stop and rest it will never happen.

In order to recreate you need to take a step back and rest to regroup.

Now, does my 2020 align with my 2020 vision so far?

Affirmations are positive statements spoken repeatedly, usually to ourselves and about changes we want in ourselves or in our lives. They are most effective if they’re brief and to the point. They work like a recording on our minds much like when songs were erased and re-recorded on these old fashioned things called tape recorders or cassettes. It’s the mental equivalent of faking it until you make it.

My 2020 vision is about seeing opportunities in situations that I’m doing little but complaining. It is about bringing into view the ways I limit my possibilities by doubting myself. It’s looking at how I generally think about aspects of my life and clicking on refresh. It’s checking out my habits and where I might be staying stuck in the routine of security. We usually use the term “2020 vision” in referring to the measure of how accurate our vision is and 2020 vision is considered perfect vision. This year I’m not going for perfect, but for more attainable and definitely, more realistic!

After asking the questions for my quarterly performance review the realization is somethings is easier said than done. Time to bring in reinforcement with a daily affirmation to keep inline for the rest of 2020. If you do these already bravo, if not let me introduce you to a great starter pack below.

I Affirm:

CLARITY: seeing myself for who I am and who others are, warts and all without judgment.

ACCEPTANCE: that I really can change the way I think and how I approach situations in my life by believing in myself

RELEASE:  of the feeling that I must be and do it all.

FUN: by filling up on laughter, companionship, treating myself and sharing.

VULNERABILITY: generously sharing myself with others with trust and courage

These affirmations aren’t complicated and they’re not about changing anyone else….since that isn’t possible. They keep my focus right where it should be….not on them, but on me! So I’m raising my _________ to clear vision in this new year!

Have you done your Q1 Performance Review yet? We’d love to hear how you’re stacking up. Comment below and let us know how your Q1 has been. Good, bad or maybe forgotten, don’t forget its never too late to make the next best decision. We’ll be here cheering you on every step of the new affirmations day!

We certainly hope this helps you to refocus and regain your sharpness for Q2.
